Biometrics:

the process of verifying a person’s identity by analyzing a distinctive physical characteristic of the individual.

The use of biometrics has increased greatly in previous years. The main use of biomethics has been found in the field of authentication. Its utilization has become increasingly common in corporate security systems, public security systems, consumer electronics, and point of sale applications. It is a great tool to verify the identity of someone for purposes ranging from public club membership to top-secret FBI work. There are several different types of biometric verification, using an assortment of high tech equipment. These devices are becoming more frequent in both public and corporate places, and will only grow even more common as it matures even further.
